Unveiling a Unusual Steam Demo: Playing as a Turdy Character on a Quest to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have found a variety of interesting creations from small studios. However, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game includes a character that is truly a dung striving to navigate to a commode. In case you're wondering, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

How you interact is simple: you only need a jump control. In numerous levels, battle tough enemies and unlock a store to purchase outfits for your dung hero.

Plan your jumps with caution, since one wrong move forces restarting the level. Leap off air pockets to propel yourself upward, cross fragile surfaces, and interact with buttons to reveal secret routes. Collect currency for buying challenging stages in which things intensifies.

Visually, the experience boasts neon level designs and an amazing music score. The retro graphics of shifting basic polygons could recall players of classic titles like Earthbound.

Although difficult to recall similar titles where you play as a piece of feces, interactive entertainment often incorporated scatological themes. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can craft grenades from protagonist waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ manure as fertilizer. Naturally, such content shows up a lot in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its silly idea, Unko Technica has already received notable accolades, including taking top honors at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is accessible now on Steam, with the final release planned to arrive on computers in the fall.
